night and more to come. let's get right to spencer with tracking all of it for us on radar tonight. >> it is indeed going to get stormy. in fact the north bay has seen a lot of stormy weather tonight. this is the way it looks right now and throughout the late afternoon and early evening hours most of the active weather has been pushing into the north bay. that's the area getting drenched writ now. you can see pockets of locally heavy rainfall in places like fort ross and north of santa rosa at bodega bay and up near sea ranch. all but moving into the north bibay but we see batch beginning to push towards the golden gate into san francisco but still most of it energy is going up to the marin county coast license there so mainly north bay event so far. over in the sierra lake tahoe pretty much rainfall down at lake level. snow levels are way up high around 8,000 feet. rainfall total over the last 24 hours growing now nearly half inch up in mount saint helena. third inch at santa rosa. third inch at san francisco and of course these total will grow because there will be more wri

about 8:00 last night. this is what our sources are telling us. the man has a southern california address. he tried to board a southwest flight to los angeles. he was going through the checkpoint here when tsa inspectors noticed suspicious items in the bin where he put his carry-on bag. they found components of an ide. an improvised explosive device, a watch with wires, fuses and a toggle switch. all the components were there except for the explosives. they then look at his boots and he suffered layers into his boots just like the shoe bomber richard reid had done. they notified sheriff's deputies who took him into custody. they examined the material. the f.b.i. was notified. sheriff's office tells us the manlaims it was an art, a piece of art. we are still trying to find more details about this story but that the very latest here from oakland international airport. >> cheryl: at san francisco international airport there were weather flight delays. there were delays on flights arriving this morning from the northwest where the weather is already wetter. >> kristen: we're not dryin

is a woman. police tell us that a married couple live in the home. but another female relevant is also associated with the address. the police got a 911 hangup call from the address at 5:30 this morning but did not arrive at the home until much later, because there were other priority calls keeping the limited resources busy. >> by the time it was in the district, the supervisor acknowledged there was a call pending here. there were four midnight officers working, and they were responding to a rash of auto thefts, and they were in progress, and a couple of the vehicles crashed into the vehicles and they had to make sure that nobody was hurt in those accidents. >> now, the police don believe that the car thefts are in any way related to the homicide. but they did keep the officers from responding to the crime scene more quickly, with the 911 hangup. animal control had to be called out for two dogs in the home. the woman's body was discovered in the entryway at 8:00 this morning. so right now the police are here, interviewing the neighbors and trying to get the identity of the victims, a

a helicopter which illuminating the hillside. they used a he can-seeking mechanism -- a heat seeking mechanism. >> they found a heat source on the side of the hill. we had our rescue team repel down the hill to look for where the chp stated they saw the heat source and we found nothing. we have the sheriff dive team out here. >> it was very slippery. some of his men started to slip down the hill. they were tethered. the dive team is going into the water and two members will look around. it is unknown at this point how long they will be in the water. this is something they are used to and it is an all volunteer team. the fact that it is raining out and it is dark means nothing. once they get underwater they will try to find this victim. this quarry is filled with water . in some areas it is estimated to be between 40 and 80 feet. there is no current. it is surrounded. dive teams from the alameda county sheriff's department will be going in shortly. unknown how long they will be in the water. john alston, abc news. >> thank you. rain is coming down now in oakland and across much of the bay area.

and the surrounding area are using shovels to dig up the pipes and possibly using heavy machinery to break into it. it started around 8:00 tonight when a customer here at the best buy in pinole heard the faint voice of a man calling for help. at first they couldn't figure out where it was coming from. and then they tracked it to a storm drain. the security guard at best buy said the man was sleeping in the pipe which is slanted at a 50 degree angle, and somehow he sliped so far down they could only hear him faintly calling for help. jay been able to make physical and verbal contact with him. we tried to lasso his hands, but he is tightly in there. we are excavating the drainpipe right now. i have resources from pinole public works to determine if we need to breakthrough the drainpipe itself and how we are going to be able to do that and protect his safety. >> reporter: firefighters say the man appears to be about 30 years old, and he is stuck in a 14-inch drainage pipe, but they don't know how long he has been in there. this could take a longtime because the fire department is callingn the public
